Deleting a project

How to delete a Project Studio project from the Switch Project list with the trash icon on the right of each row, why the open project cannot be deleted until you switch away, what deleting removes and keeps, how the Music DAW does it, and how deleting gallery files differs (Trash, 7 day window).

Delete a Project Studio project

  1. Open the Switch Project list in Project Studio.
  2. Find the project. Each row has a trash icon on the right.
  3. Click it and confirm. The project is removed from the list straight away.

The project you have open cannot be deleted. Its trash icon is greyed out, and hovering it says to switch to another project first. Open a different project (or create a new one from the same list), then come back to the list and delete the old one.

What deleting removes, and what it keeps

The Music DAW has its own project list

The Music DAW (the audio editor) keeps a separate list. Open My Projects in the DAW header to get Audio Projects. Each row has a trash icon on the right, drawn faint, and it asks Delete this project? before removing it. Like Project Studio, it does not touch your gallery files.

What the delete controls inside a project remove

Project Studio also has delete controls inside an open project. Each of them removes something in the project, never the project itself:

So emptying a timeline leaves the project in your list, just blank. To get rid of the project, use the trash icon above.

Deleting gallery files is a different thing

Deleting from your gallery removes a file (a track, an image, a video), not a project:

If a clip is still used on a project's timeline and you delete the underlying file from your gallery, the project keeps the reference but the file behind it is gone.
