Two different things called "radio"
Worth getting straight up front:
- AetherWave Public Radio is the platform-wide listener network. Tracks become eligible by clicking the radio pill on any audio card in your gallery (or the Send to Public Radio button after generating a song). The platform plays them on its curated stations.
- A Broadcast Station is your personal 24/7 channel. You pick the tracks, you customize the brand, listeners stream at a public link.
This article is about the second one.
What a Broadcast Station is
A Broadcast Station plays a rotating queue of songs 24/7 at a live URL. Listeners tune in and hear whatever is playing now - same as a real radio stream. You curate the playlist; the platform handles the broadcast.
Stations are a strong way to build an audience around your sound. If you have generated tracks, putting them on a Broadcast Station is the fastest way to get repeat listeners.
Plan limits
Each plan allows a different number of stations:
| Plan | Station limit |
|---|---|
| Free | 1 |
| Starter | 2 |
| Studio | 5 |
| Artist | 10 |
| Producer | 20 |
| Mogul / Ultimate | Unlimited |
Creating your first Broadcast Station
- Open My Broadcast Stations from the nav, then click Create Broadcast Station.
- Name the station. Punchy and thematic works best -
"Midnight Drift FM","Garage Rats Radio","Neo-Soul Thursdays". - Write a short description (1-2 sentences about the vibe).
- Upload or generate cover art - this is what shows in the station list and player.
- Pick a genre tag - this drives discovery in the station browser.
- Set visibility - public stations appear in the browse list; private stations are only accessible by direct URL.
- Save.
Adding songs
After saving, open your station's dashboard. You can add songs from:
- Your own music gallery - any track you have generated or uploaded
- The community library - tracks other users have marked shareable
- The AetherWave radio pool - curated content maintained by the platform
Drag to reorder. Stations play in order, loop when they hit the end.
Broadcasting
Once you have 5+ songs on your station, it is live. Anyone with the URL can tune in:
https://aetherwavestudio.com/radio/<share-code>
Listeners hear whatever is currently playing. The station syncs server-side, so two listeners tuning in at the same moment hear the same song at the same point. That is the "real radio" feel.
Getting listeners
- Share your station URL in Facebook groups, Discord servers, and on your artist profile
- Add your band to the station - bands have followers who get notified of new stations
- Cross-promote with other station owners via the community feed
- Feature in the browse list - public stations with good art and clear genre tags get more organic discovery
Station tips
- At least 10 songs before sharing - fewer than that and listeners notice the loop
- Consistent genre or vibe - themed stations perform better than grab-bag mixes
- Update monthly - add fresh tracks to keep the rotation interesting
- Good cover art matters - the thumbnail is the first thing people see
Next steps
- Generate more songs to fill out your rotation
- Create a band identity to own the station
