What this is
A clone is an ordinary UGC Studio character whose face is yours, built from a photo you upload instead of a forged face. Once it is locked it behaves like any other character: it holds its face across every post, writes in a personality you set, and speaks in a voice you pick or record.
Two links open this run, and they are the same flow with different wording:
/ugc-studio?clone=1builds a clone of you./ugc-studio?start=characterbuilds a first UGC character who is not you.
Either one skips the teams home, makes a first team for you, and opens the builder on just Name and They are a..., with everything else folded under More details (optional). Photo upload is the first tab, and the voice can be recorded in the browser.
You can open both links while signed out and read the page, but building needs an account. Every UGC Studio action is signed in only.
What is free, exactly
Your first identity pack is free. A pack is three views of your face, normally 9 credits each, so 27 for the set. That is more than the credits a new account starts with, so the first pack is charged at zero instead.
The allowance is four free views per account: the three views of one pack, plus one retry if a view comes back wrong.
What that covers and what it does not:
| Your first pack, three views | Free |
| One retry on a view | Free (the fourth view) |
| A second character's pack | 27 credits, normal price |
| A fifth view on the same account | 9 credits |
| A pack rebuilt after you replace the face | Normal price once the four are used |
| Your first post after locking | 9 credits for a photo, from your starting credits |
So the run the ad describes is free to the point where your clone is locked, and the first photo it stars in costs 9 credits, which your starting credits cover.
Free views are counted per account, not per character. Build one clone and a second character, and the second one's pack is full price. The pack screen shows Free on the cost row while you still have views left, and the real price once you do not, so the number on the button is always the number you pay.
The free price applies to the pack screen's own build. Regenerating a view somewhere else in the app, or at a larger size, is priced normally.
The run, start to finish
- Name, and one line on who they are. On the clone link this is you. Everything else is optional.
- Upload your photo. You tick I have the rights to this image and the likeness in it first. We refuse the upload without it, because owning a photo is not the same as owning the likeness in it.
- Pick or record a voice. Ten voices are offered, five female and five male, each with a sample you can play. Or record your own, see below.
- Build the identity pack. The front view builds from your photo, then the three-quarter and full body views build together from the front one, so all three agree on one version of you.
- Approve and lock. Tick Looks like [name] under each view, then lock. Your picture across the app becomes the front headshot.
- Your first post. The composer opens on a product photo with a brief you can edit. When it lands, it and your clone are both saved to your gallery, where you choose whether to make it public.
Keep the tab open while the pack builds. The views are built from the page, so closing it stops the build. Finished views are kept and the button offers to resume, and you are never charged twice for a view you already have.
Recording your own voice
Instead of picking a stock voice, you can give them a custom voice three ways:
- Record 8 seconds in the browser.
- Upload a sample (MP3, WAV or M4A, 15MB maximum) of three to fifteen seconds of speech. Shorter than three is refused. Longer is trimmed to fifteen.
- Write a voice description (pitch, pace, accent, energy). You can also draft one from a recording for free; a description is what lets the voice work on every engine, not only the ones that take a sample.
You confirm the rights first: I own this voice or have the speaker's permission to use it. Not a public figure or celebrity. We refuse the sample without it.
My voices keeps up to 20 saved voices, recorded, uploaded or described, so you can reuse one on any character. Deleting a saved voice does not change a character already using it.
A recorded voice does not limit the length of a talking video. Every character, stock or custom, makes talking videos as one take, as long as the engine you pick allows (up to 15 seconds, or 30 on 2.5).
The rights you are confirming
Both gates are real refusals, not warnings, and they exist for the same reason: a face and a voice belong to a person.
- The photo: that you hold the rights to the image and to the likeness in it.
- The voice: that it is yours or you have the speaker's permission, and that it is not a public figure or a celebrity.
A clone of yourself satisfies both by definition. A clone of anyone else needs their permission, and we would rather you did not build one without it.
If it is not free when you expected it to be
- You have used the four views. Check the cost row on the pack screen. It reads the real price once the allowance is gone.
- You are on your second character. The allowance is per account.
- You replaced the face and rebuilt. Replacing a face clears the pack, and rebuilding spends views like any other build.
If the cost row says Free and you were still charged, tell us through support with the character's name and we will look at your ledger.
