Trim and compress a video you already have
Both tools live on the Video Editing page and work on any video you bring: one from your gallery, a file you upload, or a public URL.
Both are free. They run on our own servers rather than an outside AI provider, so they cost no credits no matter how many times you use them.
Trim
Cut a clip down to the part you actually want.
- Load your video.
- Choose Trim.
- Set a start point and an end point, in seconds.
- Press Process.
Setting the points by scrubbing
You usually find a cut by watching, not by doing arithmetic. Scrub the preview to the frame you want, then press Set from playhead next to Start or End. That copies the player's exact position into the field.
A live summary under the fields tells you what you are keeping, for example "Keeping 4.20s of 12.00s (removing 7.80s)", so you can sanity-check before you run it.
The cut lands exactly where you put it
Trim is frame-accurate. Some tools only cut on "keyframes", which can move your cut by several seconds and leave a frozen or black opening frame. This one re-encodes the section you asked for, so the clip starts and ends on the frames you chose.
That means a trim takes a few seconds rather than being instant. On the short clips this page is built for, that is the right trade.
Good to know
- The end point must come after the start point, and the start point must be inside the video. If it is not, you are told exactly why rather than being handed a clip of the wrong length.
- Output is MP4.
- The trimmed video is saved to your gallery automatically, and you can also download it directly.
- Very large files are uploaded in parts, so a video too big for a normal upload can still be trimmed.
Compress
Make a large file smaller, which is what you want before emailing it, posting it somewhere with a size cap, or uploading it over a slow connection.
Pick a quality preset (Balanced is the usual choice), optionally drop the resolution, and choose MP4 or WebM. The result reports how much smaller it got.
A lower preset means a smaller file and slightly softer picture. If you are unsure, try Balanced first and only go lower if the file is still too big.
Which one do I want?
- The clip is the right length but the file is too big → Compress.
- The file is fine but you only want part of the clip → Trim.
- Both → Trim first, then compress the result. Trimming removes seconds, which usually shrinks the file more than compression alone.
