What is the Prompt Machine?
The Prompt Machine is a guided prompt builder for Suno. Instead of staring at a blank text field, you walk through four short steps -- Genre, Mood, Vocals, Lyrics -- and the engine assembles a structured style prompt, a song structure, and optional lyrics for you. The result is a Prompt Certificate: a formatted card with everything you need to paste into Suno and start generating.
The tool is free and works without an account. You only need to sign in if you want to Save a prompt to your profile for later.
Getting started
Open the Prompt Machine at aetherwavestudio.com/prompt-machine.
The intro screen shows a brief overview of what the tool does. Click Enter (or the Power button) to start. The stage powers on and you land on Step 1: Genre.
The right side of the screen shows three circular pods:
| Pod | What it does |
|---|---|
| Hear It | Triggers generation once your prompt is built |
| Fusion | Opens Fusion Mode to blend two genres |
| Vibe AI | Coming soon |
The Randomize button (dice icon, top nav) skips all steps and generates a fully random prompt immediately -- useful when you have no idea where to start.
Step 1: Genre
Browse or search the genre grid. Each card shows a genre name and a color coded to its family (Electronic, Hip-Hop, Rock, etc.).
Click a genre card to select it. A definition panel appears above the grid describing the genre's characteristics -- tempo, instrumentation, mood signature. Read it, then click Continue to advance to Step 2.
If you want to search, type in the search box above the grid to filter in real time.
Fusion Mode -- if you want to blend two genres rather than pick one, click the Fusion pod on the right instead of selecting a genre from the grid. See Fusion Mode below.
Step 2: Mood
Choose one mood card from the list. Moods tune the emotional register of the prompt -- things like Melancholic, Euphoric, Gritty, Dreamy. Your selection is combined with the genre to create the emotional backbone of the style prompt.
Step 3: Vocals
Choose a vocal treatment:
| Option | What it means |
|---|---|
| Auto | Let the engine decide based on genre conventions |
| Male | Male lead vocal |
| Female | Female lead vocal |
| Instrumental | No vocals, pure instrumentation |
| Choir / Group | Layered or group vocal texture |
Step 4: Lyrics
Two options on this step:
- Write your own -- type or paste lyrics into the text field. The engine will include them in the Prompt Certificate as a separate section.
- Generate lyrics with AI -- click the Generate Lyrics button. The AI writes a full set of lyrics in the style of your chosen genre and mood. You can edit the result before continuing.
You can also skip this step entirely and click Generate with the field empty. The certificate will have a Song Structure template instead of real lyrics, which works well for instrumental tracks or when you want Suno to interpret freely.
Generating the Prompt Certificate
Once you have completed the steps (or used the Randomize button), click Generate or tap the Hear It pod to build your prompt.
The Prompt Machine takes a few seconds to assemble everything, then reveals the Prompt Certificate -- a card that contains:
Card header
- Rarity badge -- Common, Rare, or Legendary. Rarity is generated based on the combination of your genre, mood, and vocal choices. Rare and Legendary prompts have stronger stylistic contrasts that tend to produce more distinctive outputs in Suno.
- Genre label -- your selected genre (or the Fusion pair in Fusion Mode)
- Stats row -- BPM, Mood, Vocal type, and Genre Family at a glance
Style Prompt
The main Suno style field payload. This is a dense comma-separated prompt built from your genre definition, mood, vocal type, BPM range, era cues, instrumentation notes, and any engine-selected emphasis elements that match the rarity tier.
Paste this into Suno's style field.
The field is editable directly on the card -- feel free to tweak it before copying.
Song Structure
A full structural template formatted for Suno's lyrics field: verse markers, chorus markers, bridge placement, and hooks. It is designed to match the genre conventions and BPM of your prompt.
Paste this into Suno's lyrics field (along with your actual lyrics if you wrote any).
Lyrics (if added)
If you wrote or generated lyrics in Step 4, they appear here in a separate field. You can edit them on the card. Copy them into Suno's lyrics field alongside the Song Structure.
Exclude (if present)
Some rarity tiers generate an Exclude list -- instruments or production elements that clash with the genre. Paste this into Suno's Exclude field if one is available in the version you are using.
Actions on the Prompt Certificate
Send to Studio
Opens the AetherWave Music Studio with your style prompt and lyrics pre-filled. The fastest way to go from prompt to generated track without leaving the platform.
Copy for Suno
Copies a combined block to your clipboard in this format:
STYLE:
[your style prompt]
LYRICS/STRUCTURE:
[your song structure + lyrics]
Ready to paste directly into Suno in one shot.
Save
Saves the full prompt -- style, structure, lyrics, genre, mood, BPM, and vocal -- to your AetherWave profile. Saved prompts appear in the Saved Prompts section of your profile page.
If you are not signed in, clicking Save stores the prompt in your browser session and redirects you to sign in. After signing in you are returned to the Prompt Machine and the prompt is automatically saved -- you do not need to click Save again.
Saving is free and requires only a free account.
PNG
Downloads the Prompt Certificate as an image file. Useful for sharing the card on social media or keeping a visual record of a prompt.
TXT
Downloads a plain text file with the style prompt, song structure, and lyrics. Good for archiving or dropping into a notes app.
Regen
Clears the current result and takes you back to Step 1 (Genre) so you can start a fresh build. Your previous genre, mood, and vocal selections are cleared -- you make new choices from scratch.
Keep building
Closes the Prompt Certificate overlay without clearing anything. The step interface is still active so you can adjust your choices and generate again.
Fusion Mode
Fusion Mode blends two genres into a single prompt. It produces a Fusion rarity certificate by default.
To enter Fusion Mode:
- Click the Fusion pod on the right side of the screen (the merge-icon circle).
- The genre grid appears. Click a first genre -- this becomes Genre A.
- A second grid appears. Search or browse for your second genre -- this becomes Genre B.
- Click Generate or the Hear It pod.
The engine builds a prompt that draws instrumentation, tempo, and mood cues from both genres and bridges them with transitional elements. The resulting style prompt is longer than a single-genre prompt and contains explicit A-side and B-side cue layers.
New Fusion (on the certificate) generates a fresh blend of the same two genres with different hero elements -- useful for getting variation without re-selecting genres.
Tips for using the output in Suno
- Do not add artist names to the style prompt. Suno filters them. Describe the sound instead.
- The style field has a character limit. If you paste a long prompt and Suno truncates it, trim the Exclude section first -- it is the lowest-priority field.
- Regenerate 2-3 times per prompt. Suno uses randomness. The same prompt can produce very different results across runs. The first output is not always the best.
- Edit the style field on the card before copying. The fields are live textareas. If a word in the style prompt does not fit your vision, change it before you copy.
- Fusion prompts work best with genres that share a tempo range. Blending Jazz and Drum and Bass can produce interesting results, but the BPM mismatch means Suno will pick a compromise tempo that may not fully represent either genre.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account? No. The full tool -- genre selection, generation, copying, downloading -- works without an account. You only need to sign in to use the Save button.
How many credits does the Prompt Machine use? Zero. Prompt generation is free. Credits are only used when you click Send to Studio and generate an actual track in the Music Studio.
Can I edit the style prompt after it is generated? Yes. The Style Prompt and Song Structure fields on the certificate are editable text areas. Change anything before you copy or send to studio.
What does rarity mean in practice? Rarity reflects stylistic specificity, not quality. Common prompts are broad and flexible -- they work well for quick experiments. Rare and Legendary prompts are more opinionated and produce more distinctive-sounding results, but they have less room for Suno to interpret freely. Neither is "better" -- it depends on what you want.
What is the Exclude field for? Suno supports an optional Exclude field where you can list instruments or sounds you do not want in the output. The engine populates this automatically on some rarity tiers based on genre conventions. It is optional -- leaving it empty does not break anything.
My lyrics generated but they do not match the genre. Click Generate Lyrics again. Each run produces a different set. You can also edit the result directly in the Step 4 text field before generating the certificate.
