Slots

Below the base console your rack has open component slots. Each empty one reads "Slot N - Empty". Tap an empty slot to open the Audio Store, pick a unit, and it drops into that slot. Every system also ships with the free 5-Band Equalizer, the one component everyone starts with.

Rack order is signal order

Sound flows down the rack, so a unit higher up is earlier in the chain than a unit below it. This matters: a compressor before an equaliser sounds different from the same two in the other order. Arrange your rack the way you want the signal to move through it.

The Mix knob

Most units carry a Mix control on the rack's edge rail. It blends between the untouched (dry) signal and the processed (wet) one. At full wet you hear only the effect; pulled back, you hear a blend. It is how you use a unit in parallel, or dial an effect in gently instead of all or nothing.

New units come in at a safe, gentle setting on purpose, so nothing you add can jump to full strength and startle your speakers.

Bypass, and A/B

Each installed unit has a bypass control. Bypassing takes just that one unit out of the chain while leaving it in the rack, so you can A/B the sound with and without it and decide whether it is earning its place. The rest of your rack keeps running.

Removing a unit

The small close control on an installed unit takes it out of the slot and frees the slot again. Removing a unit does not delete anything you own; it just takes it out of this rig.

It saves itself

There is no Save button on your personal stereo. Add a unit, move a knob, flip a bypass, and it is kept the instant you do it, on the server, tied to your account rather than to this browser. Your rack is part of your identity on AetherWave, so it looks the same next time and on any device you sign in from.

This is different from a station rack, which you save deliberately with a button so listeners hear it. See Radio Stations and the AI Host.
