YouTube Thumbnail Best Practices for Ambient Music

Great ambient thumbnails share these qualities:

High contrast - Bold colors and strong light/dark separation so the image pops at 120px wide
Single focal point - One clear subject, not a busy collage
Genre-authentic visuals - misty landscapes, fog, ocean horizons - viewers should instantly recognize the ambient vibe
Clean composition - Leave space for YouTube's timestamp overlay in the bottom-right

When using the AI generator, try prompts like "Single light in fog, minimal and striking, ethereal mood" to get thumbnails that feel authentic to ambient while being visually striking at small sizes.

Thumbnail format guide

Square (1:1) - Works as a centered YouTube thumbnail, Spotify canvas, or Instagram post
